Our Approach
At Puddle Jumpers, children lead the way. Our parent-run model creates a nurturing, diverse, and responsive environment. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we emphasize free play, curiosity, positive learning, and healthy nutrition.

We foster a child-centric, inclusive space where conflicts are guided with care. Families and teachers collaborate to provide balanced, often organic meals and snacks. Every day is designed to be fun, engaging, and inspiring for both children and parents.

What is a Co-Op?
A co-op daycare is a parent-run, non-profit, democratic community where families share in planning and running the school. Parents rotate as assistants to professional teachers, giving children a nurturing, hands-on learning environment while helping keep tuition affordable. Being part of a co-op is a rewarding way to actively participate in your child’s early education.
Our Teacher
Michele Menard
Michele is an interdisciplinary artist and educator who brings drama, puppetry, storytelling, and creativity to every day at Puddle Jumpers. She delights in circle-time stories, finger plays, and imaginative outdoor games, helping children explore, imagine, and grow with playful guidance, patience, and a sense of wonder.

Our
Story
Puddle Jumpers is a parent-run cooperative daycare in San Francisco’s Mission District, founded in 2008 by families from The Little People’s Workshop which began operating in the 1970s. For more than 50 years, generations of families have worked, played, and grown together, creating a joyful community where children and parents alike share in the adventure of early learning.

A School for Everyone

Puddle Jumpers welcomes children and families of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate in admissions, programs, or activities, and parents collaborate to ensure every child’s needs are met. Our goal is to build a diverse, inclusive, and supportive community where all children and families can thrive.
